Version 1

Thus, version 1 of the PDF is finished!

We are calling it the CRACK System Manual. There is still a lot of work which needs be done, e.g. editing, formatting, PLAYTESTING. On that last note, anyone(s) wishing to download, or be e-mailed, a copy of the PDF, let us know! At current, you may reach us at:
billbunkum [at] gmail [dot] com

Soon, we will be issuing a newsletter through Mailchimp. It will include all the proceeding updates, notifications, etc. Again, e-mail us and let us know if you would like to be put on said Newsletter.

A note on playtesting: eventually we will most likely do a Kickstarter (or similar) to propel this project forward, evenutally to publish an actual illustrated CRACK System Tomb. Those who help us  this year in playtesting will automatically receive one of the perks and be listed in the book. Blah blah, butter butter. Just so you know. :}

Thanks for your support!

The Crack System: The Crack System

The Crack System: The Crack System

We have re-organised the book, made it much easier to use as a seasoned player and as a first-time user. We have done this using a modular system.

Basically, Module I is comprised of all the mechanical references, terminology, etc. If you want to know how to do something or want to know what a term means, you would take it up with Module I.

Module II is all about creating a Character. and it and Moduel III reference powers a player may purchase to improve their character.

The final Modules contain setting material, a bestiary full of fluff and lore, Arms & Equipment guide and the DM's Toolbox.

Btw, we define "DM" as Despot-like Mistress. Go us.

The Crack System

The Crack System™ is a narrative table-top RPG, built around an original Fantasy Punk setting. If you enjoy taking a real role in the creative process of story-telling, and you also wanna roll some dice and kill bad (or good) guys…chances are this is the system for you.

What a "System" is:

Ever heard of a table-top RPG? e.g. Dungeons & Dragons, World of Darkness, Numenara, etc.? The Crack System is a similar sort of board game. These games are classified in several ways: table-top, pen & ink, RPG and silly dice games <-- my favorite.
Most systems are comprised of just a few factors. There is usually a Setting (sci-fi, fantasy, etc.) and a list of Core Mechanics (how the numbers & math work in the game). Table-top systems also require a Game Master in addition to several Players to play.

The Crack System™ is special:

The Crack System differs from other systems in several ways but none so much as the differentiation of The Dread™ and Encounters when playing the game.

In short, The Dread is the more role-playing (meta) side of the game and Encounters are the more mechanical (number-crunching) side. The Crack System is designed primarily for NARRATIVE role playing, and The Dread is the time where players make choices which influence their environment by choices & creativity rather than dice rolling.

"So... now that we've thoroughly explained the mechanics of this system, it's time we show you, the prospective player or DM, how to avoid using them 70-90% of the time." – Crack Manual p.26
